Carving an asian woman’s face! This was a lovely project to create and I hope you enjoy! Carved in plains cottonwood bark, other materials may be used, such as birch, aspen, basswood, butternut, etc!

TOOLS:

If you do not have the same tools, remember you do not have to have the exact same sizes-- just within the same size range.

  • #4 - 1” (25mm) gouge

  • #9 - 1/4” (6mm) gouge

  • #11 - 1/16” (2mm) veiner

  • #9 - 5/8” (16mm) gouge

  • 30-60degree -3/16” (3mm) V-tool

  • 4- 1/4” (6mm) skew

  • 1/8” (3mm) #10 or #11 veiner

  • 220 grit sandpaper

MATERIALS:

  • 8.5” x 2.5” x 3.5” Plains cottonwood bark

  • Pencil

  • Ruler
