I have studied the work of many carvers over the last 18 years and noticed that many look to find the most perfect, clear, unblemished wood for their projects. I don’t. I enjoy working with strange pieces of wood and finding a way to collaborate with them and to give them a second life. This Swirling Half Man’s Face is a collaboration with nature and a representation of the whimsey of a good natured man.

Coated with a clear matte polyurethane
Hand carved in plains cottonwood bark collected near the Yellowstone and Tongue river on trips to Montana and Wyoming.
7 1/4” long x 3 1/2” thick x 4 3/4” wide
Carving is signed, equipped with a carved notch for wall hanging, and a signed certificate of authenticity.
